Just some cute shots that I got of some of my favorite kiddos :)

I rarely type much of anything.

So, it's kind of fun to be typing an easy message that I can just beat out on the key board.

You know what's crazy?

Autocorrect has come to the computer! It used to be that a mistake was just that, a mistake. You had to wait and come back and edit. Now you can mis type something and then watch the computer automatically change it to what it thinks you want. This can be hard to fully enjoy and appreciate due to being used to the backspace key. My family used to make fun of me and note that yes, I could type fast, but a lot of my time was spent hitting the back space key.

This post is an example of this. If I had kept a count of how many times I used backspace, it would have been around 1-2 times per sentence.

At least I know where the back space key is WITHOUT looking! :)

On a completely different note, I just saw this on my Pinterest "likes"  -

**update: remember how the title of my blog contains "randomness"? yeah. This falls under that category!**

Have a good rest of the weekend!

*knock, knock*

" anyone here?"

**downtown ktown**
Hi guys!!

It's me again, you remember - (or maybe not!!)

... I used to write on this blog sometimes?

Ok, joking aside.

Please ignore my long absence and pretend it never happened, k?

I thought about my little ol' blog this morning and since I started working on another project today.... I decided to come update this space!

In response to my blog header, here's what has been happening in my world:

as a friend -

usually I'm the traveller who goes forth to visit my friends scattered various and sundry places, but recently my friends have returned the favor! I enjoyed a visit from a childhood bff and two of my long time buddies within one week! We stayed up entirely too late (both weekends), spent the day at Dollywood, being *tourists* in Knoxville, eating food, and in church. It was wonderful!

as a sister -

calling on FaceTime (actually, I talk more to my nephew...anyways). Trying to be a cheerleader for my oldest sister from almost 800 miles away. Squeezing in conversations with my middle sister (also 800 miles away) and always ready for the next time we see each other! Oh, and trying to get my brother (local) to work on my car :)

as a daughter -

don't tell my mom, but this is an area I could definitely work on. I mean, I do my responsibilities and fulfill my obligations. I'm available as needed to help transport family members, go to some of the functions, etc... but I could do better. My mom is really amazing and willing to help me and I could improve on helpfulness, gratefulness, and showing my appreciation.

as a red head -

lol. well, I'm still rocking the red hair, so I think life is going well with this! My perm is coming out and I have to do more work to get curl out of my hair, so I'm headed back into the "frizzy-what to do-takes to long to straighten" hair situation. Enough about my hair.

as a DIY-er -

Hey! Guess what? I got hired as a Kindergarten Teacher! I have a new job and a new title! I've also been able to DIY! My wannabe crafty side has been well exercised recently! see below
**my classroom**

**recent activities**
with melanoma awareness -

regretfully, I haven't been doing much with this, but I haven't let go of it. I'd still like to host a walk with the AIM foundation, etc...

with style -

I don't feel really great about the style situation right now. I think I know what my problem is (not going to the gym and not feeling good about myself) and have had some thoughts about working on this. Maybe it's time for me to have a wardrobe refresh?!

Speaking of which....that's what I've been working on tonight! I created a basic blog to introduce our next venture. My mom and I are planning to work on something we are both passionate about: ORGANIZATION! With that said, we have so many plans and ideas in our head and I'd like to let you all know about it.... stay tuned for more information and a link to our new project!!

ok. I give up. I don't think I'm going to finish this post..... let's say, until next time!

*disclaimer. I am not going to the top and re reading this at this point of the post. All errors will remain "as is"*

It's been FOREVER since I've updated this blog! I have a whole list of excuses I could make (new job, new hours, busy time of year, lack of inspiration, ...) but I won't give you all of them.
Just understand that I intended to come back....

and then I didn't...

and then I did....

now I've decided to give this space on the internet another shot -

- tasting - My sister coerced asked me if I wanted to do a 26 day detox with her. oh sure! why not? That won't be too bad.

Yes it was.

I learned a lot of things, made some great mental adjustments, and started slipping at about day 2 (or 1). Anyways, even though I didn't complete the "prescribed plan", I have made some good adjustments. I've added a LOT of salads (big deal for me) and added diet coke back in (also a big deal for me)

- feeling - Crazy weather. Like a good portion of the US, we went through the "polar vortex", then we bounced up towards the 50+. Then dropped back down to 1+. We got 4 inches of snow yesterday (with very little predicted) and are digging back out of that to face almost 60 this weekend.

I've been wearing a lot of comfy sweaters, boots & knee socks, and wrapping up in blankets.

- smelling - hmm. Food? During my food deprivation, food I don't generally order or eat smelled AMAZING!

Mexican? check.

Grilled Chicken Caesar? Check.

Rolls? Check.

- seeing -  pictures. I've been sorting pictures and preparing to work on preserving my memories. I also brought so many pictures of friends and family to work to hang up. Sometimes I just take a moment and get lost looking at them. I have the best friends and family! <3 p="">
- hearing - music at work (yay me!) and stories at home. I love to listen to a good dramatized story! Most of my downtime has been devoted to playing a game/browsing the interwebs, wrapped in a blanket, and listening to a story!

Sounds like a good plan for tonight! :)

I have so many ideas and plans rolling around in my head - here's to "un-procrastinating" in 2014 :)

I'm back!

Friday Fun-Day!

Friday Fun-Day is back! I hope you can read this post and find some humor in it! Let it usher in the weekend! :)

We really should! I brought my toothbrush, did you?? LOL!

I LOVE Miss Frizzle! I used to think that I would be a teacher just. like. her.

I'm going to have to start living inside/outside my "awesome bubble"!

I love to read the fortune cookie and see what it says. It would be too funny to get one like this!!

Found at TJ Maxx. If you find yourself short of something to post, look no further, help is here!

What's making you laugh these days? Share in the comment section!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

Monday of this week was "Melanoma Monday."

If you just happened upon my blog and don't know what happened, let me explain...
May is Skin Cancer Awareness month and Melanoma is the most life threatening form of Skin Cancer. Black is the "ribbon" color of Melanoma and due to it's severity/people's deisre to raise awareness, people created a day called "Melanoma Monday". On this Monday, we band together to wear the color black in support, recognition, and honor of the fight with Melanoma.

Here are a couple facts about Melanoma, in case you didn't know:

*"People who use tanning beds once a month before the age of 35 increase their melanoma risk by 75%...
*Melanoma is the second most common cancer for women aged 25-29...
*Rates for melanoma are increasing faster than nearly all other cancers." (source)

With Melanoma being the reality that it is and because of the impact it's had on my life, I am a firm believer in spreading awareness.

So, I did my part!

I shared information on social media.

I encouraged others to wear black...

and I wore black.

Thanks so much for all who wore black with me on Monday, May 6, 2013!! I hope that the awareness we spread has a ripple effect!

Movin' along, Goodbye March!

It's been real, March.

Being jobless, does not necessarily mean I don't have things to do.

So, March, we've been a busy couple -

we tried the French Market (Amazing!)

Do you like Crepes? Do you like French decor? Do you like eating at locally owned places?

Ok. ok. I'll stop

but if you're in the area, please say you'll try this place out??

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

March, you helped me see my own city like I would look at other cities.

I practiced looking for things to take pictures of. and edit. and post to instagram.

and -

you get the point!

So, the hashtag #touristeyes was born.

Feel free to use it for your city.

Try looking at your city through an outsiders eyes!

March, you brought my good friends again.

From these pictures, it looks like all we did was ingest sugar. we didn't.

or did.

But it was fun!

How was your March? What were you inspired to take pictures of? Did you get to spend time with any special friends? Tell me below, I'd love to hear about your amazing March!

P.S. aren't you glad spring is arriving??
